【SDGsを英語で学ぶ】Goal 5: Gender Equality ジェンダー平等を実現しよう

I think Japan should make more efforts to achieve gender equality for the following reasons.

First, according to the latest report on gender equality, Japan still falls behind other developed countries in female empowerment. I think this is because of a stereotyped idea for gender roles, so we should make more efforts to encourage awareness of gender equality.

Second, in today's Japan, females still have less opportunities in business world. I have heard of that there is a Glass Ceiling to women's promotions in Japanese companies. I think the government should do more active efforts so that we can tackle with the serious labor shortage and declining the birth-rate.

Third, few male workers in Japan takes paternity leave, on the other hand, about 80% of women take maternity leave. It demonstrates that married couples heavily depend on women for child-raising.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that Japan should make much more efforts to accomplish gender equality.
