5-8 3s set and turn by the right, finishing facing out WHILE 1s cast and meet below 4s, finishing facing up on the centre line, nearer hands joined;
9-12 2s set and turn by the right, finishing facing out and down WHILE 3s cast, meet below 4s and lead up, nearer hands joined, finishing facing up on the centre line in 3rd position WHILE 1s lead up two places, cast up around 2s to finish in 1st place, facing in;
9-16 4s set and turn by the right WHILE 1s2s3s mirror half reels of 3 on the sides, 3s leading up between 2s to start, finishing 3s2s1s4s, 3s 1s facing in, 2s 4s facing out;
17-24 3s2s1s4s mirror reels of 4 on the sides (reverse reel on the Ls' side), finishing 3s2s1s4s, 3s 1s facing in, 2s 4s facing out;
25-28 3s 1s set twice WHILE 2s 4s cast up into half figures of 8 across, finishing on opposite sides;
29-30 3s 1s cross down one place, finishing facing in WHILE 2s 4s cast up;

Dance Notes
1-16 This is the fugal part; 1s 3s 2s 4s set and turn by the right, one after the other, starting on the 1st, 5th, 9th and 13th bars, respectively.
1-28 At the end of every figure, all will be facing in the correct direction ready for the next figure; don't turn on the spot to face in when you would naturally finish the figure facing out.
1-32 Take hands at every opportunity; this maintains the covering.
29-30 3s 1s take right hands when crossing down and retain hold ready for bar 31.

Rob Roy is the colloquial name for Scottish hero Robert Roy MacGregor (7 March 1671 - 28 December 1734), who has been described as the Scottish Robin Hood.
Usually known simply as Rob Roy or alternately Red MacGregor, he was a famous Scottish folk hero and outlaw of the early 18th century. "Rob Roy" is anglicised from the Scottish Gaelic "Raibeart Ruadh", or "Red Robert". This is because Rob Roy had red hair, though it darkened to auburn in later life.
