Dance Notes

This dance could be perceived as having the 3-couple in a 4-couple set format with the odd-numbered repeats danced in strathspey tempo and the even-numbered in reel tempo. However, treating it as a 4-couple in a 4-couple set format is more explicit in that the dancers' numbers in the active set remain the same throughout the 64 bars. Note that the dance can, alternatively, be performed wholly in strathspey or wholly in reel tempo.

1-8 In the 2 nd , 3 rd and 4 th repeats, the former 1s (now in 3rd place) dance the knot with 4s. This is a neat way to drop the former 1s to 4th place of the full set and provides a good opportunity for elegant covering in the two knot figures.

57-64 In the final repeat, 2s3s1s4s dance 8 hands round and back.

Dance Information

Suggested music is: Inverness Highland Ball on Colin Dewar's Ruthven Collection Vol 2 CD or The Anniversary on Bobby Frew Four's The Edinburgh Castle Reel CD.

(Dance information by the deviser, Gayle Frisa) The title of this dance, Knot Again, is likely a word-play on the phrase "Oh no, not again", often said when someone is hesitant to repeat a dance, and, of course, it does include the dance figure The Knot.
