疫学 集中治療室に収容された後の気道感染症は、いくつかの例で観察されています。E. americanaが以前の静脈内薬物乱用者で肩関節の骨髄炎および敗血症性関節炎を引き起こした症例も報告されています。血管バイパス手術は、定着の危険因子として報告されています。 現在、免疫不全患者に対するこの微生物の傾向について議論が続いている。
病態生理学および生化学 E. americanaは、水とクエン酸溶液で生き残ることができ、4°C で優先的に成長する単純な栄養ニーズを持つ生物です。エアコン、アイスバス、創傷洗浄システムなどの家庭用水源が感染源として挙げられています。
