Effective words for your Japanese writing

It is important to make your writing logical, especially when your writing needs to be informative, evaluative and persuasive. Here is the list of the words which help you to write in Japanese logically.

It is used at the start of a sentence.

Example

車ははやくてべんりです。また、さいきんの車はかんきょうにいいです。

Cars are fast and convenient. Also, cars these days are environmentally friendly.

On the other hand

Note

だいいちに（第一に）is same as まず but sounds more formal.

Secondly

  • つぎに（次に）
  • だいにに（第二に）

日本は小さい国です。しかし人口は多いです。

Japan is a small country. However, the population is big.

In Japanese, you don’t say 人口は 大きい even though you say ‘ large or big population’. Use 多い which is many or much.

Note

しかしながら is same as しかし but sounds more formal.

Therefore, that is why

Example

私はいしゃになりたいです。だから大学に行くつもりです。

I want to become a doctor. Therefore, I intend to go to uni.

Note

それゆえに is same as だから but sounds more formal.

For example

Example

学校でいろいろなかもくを勉強できます。たとえば、私はドイツ語を勉強します。
