Cluster Flower Table Runner – Free Crochet Pattern

This airy table runner would make a wonderful, thoughtful “thank-you” gift for a friend or family member who loves old-fashioned beauty. Crocheted with crochet cotton thread and a steel crochet hook this table runner features small motifs that are joined with the join-as-you-go technique. Tiny filler motifs are added between the joined small motifs.

Skill: Easy Size: About 25 inches wide by 10 inches long Materials: Size 10 Crochet Thread: White Crochet Hook: Steel No. 7 (1.650 mm).

Special Stitches Cluster (cl): Keeping last loop of each st on hook, work 5 dc in st or sp indicated, yo and pull through all loops on hook.

FIRST CLUSTER MOTIF Rnd 1: (Right Side) Starting at center, ch 2, 8 sc in 2 nd ch from hook; join with sl st to first sc. (8 sc) Rnd 2: Ch 5 (counts as first dc and ch 2), (dc in next sc, ch 2) around; join with sl st to first dc. (8 dc, 8 ch-2 sps) Rnd 3: Sl st to ch-2 sp, ch 3, keeping last loop of each st on hook, work 4 dc in same sp, yo and pull through all loops on hook, (first cluster made), ch 9, (cl in next ch-2 sp, ch 9) around; join with sl st to top of first cluster. (8 cl, 8 ch-9 lps) Finish off and weave in ends.

NEXT CLUSTER MOTIF Rnds 1-2: Rep Rnds 1-2 of First Cluster Motif. Rnd 3: Sl st to ch-2 sp, ch 3, keeping last loop of each st on hook, work 4 dc in same sp, yo and pull through all loops on hook, (first cluster made), ch 4, working in previous Motif, sl st in 5 th ch of ch-9 lp, ch 4, working in current Motif, cl in next ch-2 sp, ch 4, working in previous Motif, sl st in 5 th ch of next ch-9 lp, ch 4, working in current Motif, (cl in next ch-2 sp, ch 9) around; join with sl st to top of first cluster. Finish off and weave in ends. Continue making a total of 78 Cluster Motifs (6 by 13) and joining each Motif with two consecutive joins to each adjacent Motif.

FILLER MOTIF (Make 60) Rnd 1: (Right Side) Starting at center, ch 2, 8 sc in 2 nd ch from hook; join with sl st to first sc. (8 sc) Rnd 2: (Joining filler Motif between 4 Cluster Motifs) Ch 3, working in ch-4 sps between Cluster Motifs, sl st in first ch-4 sp, ch 3, working on the Motif, sl st in next sc, (ch 3, sl st in next ch-4 sp, ch 3, sl st in next sc) around. Finish off and weave in ends. Repeat for all spaces.
