Translation is sometimes used to make sure you have understood the English text you are reading, but remember that there might be something lost in translation.翻訳は、読んでいる英語の文章を理解しているかどうかを確認するために使われることがありますが、翻訳によって失われるものがあるかもしれないことを覚えておいてください。

単語にはさまざまな意味がありますが、まずは定期テストを乗り越えるために、文章中で使われている意味で紹介しています🐻

V : 動詞 , Ving : 動名詞 , Vpp : 過去分詞, O：目的語, C：補語

【1】Before concluding my talk, let me share with you a couple of Japanese words which I find really interesting.

「Before concluding my talk, 」＝ 話を終える前に

・before は、前置詞・接続詞・副詞、どれでも使えるため注意。・今回は、before の後ろが名詞（動名詞）になっているため、前置詞。・before + 名詞だと『前置詞』、before + SV だと『接続詞』、before単独だと『副詞』と覚えておこう！

「let me share」＝ 私に共有させてください

・命令文の丁寧表現 “let me ~” の使用・「〜させてください」という意味の丁寧な依頼や申し出。・let 自体は、”let + 人 + 動詞の原形” という形で使います。

「share with you a couple of Japanese words」＝ あなたといくつかの日本語を共有する

・動詞 “share” の目的語の語順に注意（share A with B）・”share A with B” で「BとAを共有する」という重要表現。・ただ、この文では倒置されており、”share with you a couple of Japanese words” という語順になっている・倒置しなければ、”share a couple of Japanese words with you”となる。・今回は、a couple of Japanese words を後ろから修飾しているため、順番が変わったと考えると良い。

・ちなみに”a couple of ~”は、「2、3の〜」という意味で、可算名詞の複数形に使われる表現。

「Japanese words which I find really interesting」＝ 私が本当に面白いと思う日本語

・”which I find really interesting” は先行詞 “Japanese words” を修飾する関係詞節。・関係詞については、下の画像で復習しよう！

【2】Imagine that you are strolling in a park on a bright summer day.

「Imagine that ~」＝ 〜を想像してみて

・命令文の使用 “Imagine ~”・主語 “you” を省略した命令文で、「〜を想像してごらん」という意味。・that節は、imagine の目的語で、想像して欲しい内容が書かれている。

「that you are strolling」＝ あなたが散歩していること

・接続詞 “that” を使った名詞節・ “imagine” の目的語となる名詞節。”that” は省略可能だが、ここでは明示されている。・現在進行形 “you are strolling” の使用・「（今）〜しているところを想像して」という意味合いを出すため、現在進行形が使われている。・”stroll” は「（ゆっくり）散歩する」。

「on a bright summer day」＝ 明るい夏の日に
