Fresno, California — Fresno Police officers were involved in a shooting early Sunday morning after responding to a reported armed burglary at an apartment complex near North Backer Avenue and Shaw Avenue, authorities said.

Amicho Mancia then exited the SUV and fled on foot toward a nearby campus area. Another officer, believing the suspect was armed, fired his service weapon as Mancia continued to run. A police K-9 was deployed and successfully apprehended him.
Officers approaching the suspect vehicle also detained the passenger, 43-year-old Antwoine Francisco Mancia. During the arrest, officers recovered an AR-15–style rifle from the vehicle. Police later confirmed that Amicho Mancia had been wearing body armor at the time of the incident, though it did not show any bullet impacts.
Amicho Mancia was transported to a hospital with a gunshot wound and was admitted in stable condition. Antwoine Mancia did not have visible injuries but complained of pain and was transported to the hospital before being released and booked into jail.
Police also recovered the shotgun and a bag used during the burglary from inside the victim’s apartment. The stolen safe fell from the SUV during the suspects’ attempted escape.
Amicho Mancia was booked into jail on charges including felony assault on a police officer, robbery, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Antwoine Mancia faces charges of robbery, carrying a concealed firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, and felon in possession of ammunition.
Detectives later identified the third suspect as 28-year-old Aaron Guery, who was taken into custody on January 29, 2025, and booked into jail on a charge of home invasion robbery.
The investigation into the officer-involved shooting remains ongoing. Police stated that body-worn camera footage, surveillance video, and physical evidence are being reviewed as part of the case.
