Taiwan man gets 22 years in sex assaults, video case

TAIPEI, Sept 3: A Taiwanese man was sentenced Tuesday to 22 years and four months in prison for sexually assaulting nine women and filming the acts.

Justin Lee, the son of a well-known businessman, was jailed for 18 years and six months for nine counts of assault, the Taipei district court said. [break]

He was sentenced to another three years and ten months for making sex videos without the women´s consent and invading their privacy.

The court said there was not enough evidence to convict Lee, 28, of aggravated sexual assault by drugging some victims, as prosecutors had requested.

Lee´s case was headline news in Taiwan last year after local media reported he had allegedly made sex videos of models and actresses.

He failed to answer a summons for questioning but turned himself in after going into hiding for 20 days.

"Lee should have collaborated with the authorities to clarify the case but he fled and tried to avoid being investigated, which caused a waste of social and judicial resources . he has shown no remorse," the court said in a statement.

Lee´s lawyer told reporters he would appeal the ruling.
